The Donor Reception, hosted by the Vice-Chancellor of Newcastle University, Chris Brink, thanked all those who supported the University over the years.

The event took place in the brand spanking new Kings Gate building, and was organised by the Development & Alumni Relations Office.

Congratulations to all those students who were recognised for their extra-curricular work within the community.

The students were awarded £500.00, from Santander, as part of the Santander Universities network of over 700 higher education institutions worldwide.

The student callers are well underway the annual Phonathon, calling Alumnus of Newcaste University, raising money for the Annual Fund. The fund has many functions, one of which ensures that hundreds of students are able to study with fewer money worries.

All the donations improve the quality of both the University and the Students'.

"Each year members of the Year of 1953 MB BS meet to award a prize of £500 to one final year medical student who is deemed by their peers to have contributed most to the camaraderie of the year group.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for alumni and medical students to get together and celebrate what it is to be a Newcastle medic."

Students from Newcastle University have been graduating today, in the freezing cold and snow.

I was roaming around, offering an alternative to the formal shots, working with the Alumni Association, trying to keep in touch with our students before they leave.

Families and individuals were offered a free photo, in return for their email address, and it seemed to go down a treat.
